Richard Christiansen, founder of creative agency, Chandelier Creative and Los Angeles bookstore, Owl Bureau, welcomes us to his Los Angeles home, Flamingo Estate.Â

In the 1940s Flamingo Estate was created on the idea of pleasure, a lush hedonistic playground sitting on 7-acres above Los Angeles.Â

Over the next seven decades, the Flamingo Estate became the headquarters for a pioneering erotic film company, a creative retreat for photographers and artists, a pirate-radio station, a publishing company, a political fundraiser, and an unlikely center for cultural self-examination and expanding notions of art.

Flamingo Estate’s evolution has led to a holistic lifestyle brand, offering a mindful and qualitative approach to a healthy and elevated lifestyle for the public, reminiscent of the unique property and reflective of Richard’s commitment and passion for wellness, which came to light as the lure of a garden and sufficient outdoor space drove him to Los Angeles from New York in 2017. This year, Flamingo Estate will launch it's full range of products, themed to "For the Body", "For the Mind", "For the Home" and "For the Kitchen".Â
A utopian collaboration between Christiansen and French landscape designer Arnaud Casaus–the Estate’s sprawling garden is now home to over 150 new botanical species, including a vibrant orchard with apples, citrus, plums, pears, avocados, macadamia nuts, olives, and peaches. Together, they provide food and home to a variety of welcome guests, including hummingbirds, owls, butterflies, and bees.
